Sedation Dentistry

Sedation dentistry in Reston using Nitrous OxidePain-Free Dentistry is Possible!

Millions of people fear visiting the dentist, and postpone the dental work they really need. If you experience anxiety, stress, or discomfort in the dental chair, come discuss sedation dentistry with Dr. Jon Han.

You will find safe and effective sedation options at Expressions Dental Care. We can administer a mild oral sedative or a relaxing nitrous oxide gas to make you feel relaxed through any procedure.

We have helped patients who have been delaying major dental work for years to finally attain the smiles of their dreams! Dental comfort and confidence is just around the corner, and anyone can attain it with dental sedation.

How Does Oral Conscious Sedation Work?

At or before your appointment, you will swallow a small pill previously prescribed to you by Dr. Han. Once the sedative begins to work, we will help you sit back in the dental chair and get comfortable with dental amenities.

You will be awake enough to respond to our dentist’s questions and commands, and to ask your own questions or express any concerns. However, you’ll be in an altered state of consciousness so that you do not remember the details of your procedure. Your entire visit will feel like it lasts for just a few moments, and you’ll leave with a brilliant new smile.

How Does Nitrous Oxide Sedation Work?

Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is administered at the beginning of your procedure. A breathing mask is placed over your nose, and you will inhale the safe gas throughout your appointment. A feeling of euphoria will come over you, and you will remain awake but unaware of the details of the procedure. After your visit, the gas will wear off quickly and you may even be able to drive yourself home.

Am I a Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?

Most of our healthy patients are good candidates for sedation dentistry. We may recommend sedation dentistry to patients who:

  • Require lengthy or complicated procedures
  • Suffer from dental anxiety or phobia
  • Have a sensitive gag reflex
  • Have medical conditions

During your examination, Dr. Han will determine if you are a candidate for nitrous oxide or oral sedation dentistry. Your comfort is important to us, and we want to help you receive the dental work you need in an atmosphere that is free from pain and worry.
