I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, but I fell in love with Virginia while completing my undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech. It was there that I met my beautiful wife, Mindy. Afterward, I completed my Master’s degree in Physiology and dental school at Virginia Commonwealth University. To further my training, I also completed a General Practice Residency at Ohio State University. My life did not always revolve around dentistry; in fact it was quite the opposite. Ironically, my parents own a chocolate shop. While working there, I was able to channel my creativity into making chocolate. As a dentist, I use that same creativity to help make healthy smiles!
The more I delve into dentistry, the more apparent it has become that dentistry is a life-long learning process. Today, dentistry is completely different from what it has been in the past; this can be attributed to the fact that the evidence supporting our reasoning for treatment is ever-changing. Through continuous training, my goal is to become a proficient and knowledgeable clinician. My passion is to educate my patients about their treatment options, so that they may feel empowered to choose what is best for them. Beyond the technical aspects of dentistry, I enjoy meeting and befriending patients. I cherish these relationships, as it gives me an opportunity to get to know the individual behind the smile. My goal is to listen to my patients’ concerns, while ensuring they are comfortable with the care I provide for them.
Outside of the office, Mindy and I enjoy hiking, camping, and going to the beach with our dogs, Scout and Dakota. I also enjoy watching movies, playing the guitar, and video games. I am a firm believer that no one is ever too old for video games! Additionally, I am passionate about community outreach. I have been involved in programs such as Mission of Mercy, Give Kids a Smile, and Special Olympics: Special Smiles.
